To know in order to live! Drug Use Prevention Week

The "Week of Prevention of Drug Use" is taking place in Russia from 23 to 29 June. It was announced by the Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation in honor of the International Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking, which is celebrated on June 26. The spread of drug use and addiction is one of the most serious problems of modern society.

Drugs are substances that can affect the nervous system and cause a change in human consciousness. All drugs are involved in chemical processes occurring in the brain, change them and lead to the development of addiction – the need to constantly take a psychoactive substance. This can lead to the development of severe addiction – drug addiction, which is characterized by an irresistible attraction to a psychoactive substance. Drug use causes mental changes, isolation, impoverishment of emotional reactions, perceptual disorders, and motor disorders.

Among drug addicts, the majority are young people, mostly under the age of 35. Most people become addicted to drugs "for company", and then they lose most of their social contacts. Due to the violation of the emotional and personal sphere, he becomes uninterested in former friends. Finding money to buy drugs moves people into the criminal strata of society. Death from drug use occurs very quickly, which leads to an increase in mortality among young people.

Remember, there are no safe drugs!

Tobacco Cessation Week has been announced from May 26 to June 1, 2025, timed to coincide with World No Tobacco Day on May 31. The medical staff of the Krasivo sanatorium join the information campaign – they hold talks and distribute printed materials about the dangers of smoking.

The purpose of the Week is to help reduce the prevalence of tobacco addiction, involve all segments of the population and doctors of all specialties in the fight against smoking, prevent tobacco smoking and inform society about the harmful effects of tobacco on health.

Tobacco addiction is recognized as one of the most widespread epidemics in the history of mankind - nicotinomania. It is on a par with alcoholism and drug addiction.

Everyone knows that smoking is harmful.  According to the World Health Organization (WHO), people who started smoking in adolescence and have more than 25 years of smoking experience have a reduced life expectancy of 15-20 years compared to those who have never smoked. About 6 million people on the planet – according to the same WHO - die annually as a result of tobacco use. This does not mean that a person lit a cigarette and died immediately. Smokers die from diseases that have arisen in their bodies as a result of smoking – these are diseases of the heart, blood vessels, and lungs. You can always quit smoking. Take care of yourself!

Endocrine System Disease Prevention Week (in honor of World Thyroid Day on May 25)

The endocrine system is one of the key systems in the human body, responsible for hormonal balance and overall health. Diseases of the endocrine system are becoming more common every year.  The main factors that lead to the development of endocrine disorders include: infectious diseases, hereditary factors, chronic diseases of other organs and systems, cardiovascular insufficiency, surgical interventions, and taking a number of medications.
