Week of prevention of gastrointestinal diseases

From November 24 to November 30, the Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation announced the Week of Prevention of Gastrointestinal Diseases. This week is a great opportunity to remember the simple but effective rules of taking care of your digestive system.  Why is gastrointestinal health so important?

The absorption of nutrients that give us energy depends on it. Up to 70% of the cells of our immune system are located in the intestine. The state of the digestive tract directly affects our emotional state.

The main rules of stomach and intestinal health:

• Balanced diet: Eat more vegetables, fruits, and whole grains rich in fiber. Limit fried, spicy, fast food, and sugary sodas.

• Diet: Try to eat at the same time, in small portions. Don't skip breakfast!

• Sufficient water intake: Drink 1.5-2 liters of clean water per day — it helps digestion.

• Avoiding stressful situations.

• Giving up bad habits.

In case of gastrointestinal problems, you should not self-medicate. And remember: "It's easier to prevent a disease than to treat it," as the "father of medicine," Hippocrates, used to say.

International Smoking Cessation Day

Every year, on the third Thursday of November, International Smoking Cessation Day is celebrated on the initiative of the International Society of Oncologists and with the support of the World Health Organization (WHO).  The medical staff of the Krasivo sanatorium are joining the information campaign and have prepared lectures, talks, flyers and videos on a significant topic.

The purpose of the International Day of Smoking Cessation is to help reduce the prevalence of tobacco addiction, involve all segments of the population in the fight against smoking, prevent tobacco smoking and inform society about the harmful effects of tobacco on health.

The tobacco epidemic is one of the most serious threats to public health that has ever occurred in the world. WHO experts note that all forms of tobacco use are harmful to health, and there is no harmless dose of tobacco. In recent years, vapes, which are electronic cigarettes, have become widespread. Smoking electronic devices is promoted as a safe alternative to regular cigarettes. However, e-cigarettes are also unsafe.

It should be noted that with good awareness of the health risks of smoking, people tend to get rid of nicotine addiction, but the habit of smoking is so strong that there is no way to give it up.

We encourage everyone to think about their health and the health of their loved ones!

Lung Cancer Prevention Week

Lung cancer is one of the most common and dangerous cancers, which kills millions of people worldwide every year. The main cause of the development of this disease is smoking, but do not forget about other risk factors such as air pollution, heredity and exposure to harmful substances. Lung Cancer Prevention Week is held to raise awareness about the disease, its early detection and the need for prevention. The doctors of the sanatorium "Krasivo" are joining the infocampany.

Lung cancer risk factors can be divided into two categories – internal and external. The first includes a hereditary history: if one of the relatives had cancer, then this person has an increased risk of developing this disease.

All other factors are external. This is work related to harmful chemical and diesel fumes, asbestos, arsenic, etc. Work in rooms with high dust content, with an increased amount of radon.

Recommendation to patients: be attentive to their health, follow the doctor's recommendations, and do not ignore the annual medical check-up. Take care of yourself!

Breast Cancer Week (in honor of Breast Cancer Month)

Breast Cancer Week will be held in Russia from October 13 to 19, 2025 (in honor of Breast Cancer Month). Breast cancer (BC) is one of the most common oncological diseases not only in Russia, but also around the world.  Breast cancer is a disease in which abnormal cells in breast tissue begin to divide uncontrollably and form a tumor. The earliest form (the so–called "cancer in situ") is not life-threatening. However, tumor cells can spread to adjacent breast tissue (invasion). As the tumor continues to grow, a bulky formation or thickening occurs. Invasive cancer can spread to nearby lymph nodes or other organs (metastasize). Metastasis can be fatal.

One form or another of breast tumors (and there are more than 30 types) can occur in half of the female population (i.e., in every second woman over 30 years old). Fortunately, the vast majority are benign and do not endanger health.

Breast cancer prevention should be mandatory for all women.  These include leading a healthy lifestyle, proper and balanced nutrition, preventing stress and conflict situations, giving up bad habits, observing the daily routine, preventive examinations and medical examinations. Take care of yourself and your loved ones! Be healthy!

Week of Patient Safety and Popularization of Health Centers

The week from September 15th to 21st has been declared the Week of Patient Safety and Popularization of Health Centers (in connection with the World Patient Safety Day celebrated on September 17th). Medical workers of the sanatorium "Krasivo" join a significant action.

Patient safety is a key aspect of quality medical care. Any form and type of medical care provision carries potential risks for patients. The active position of the patient himself plays an important role in ensuring his own safety when receiving medical care. It should be remembered that leading a healthy lifestyle significantly improves health and increases the chances of recovery.

Health centers are actively involved in promoting a healthy lifestyle among the population, raising awareness of citizens about methods of maintaining and promoting health, forming a healthy lifestyle, fostering respect for health and quality of life, contributing to the development of motivation to give up bad habits such as smoking and alcohol consumption, as well as minimizing the impact of other risk factors for non-communicable diseases..
