From October 12 to 18, 2026, Russia is holding a preventive Week of Breast Cancer Awareness (in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month). The medical staff at the “Krasivo” sanatorium are joining this important campaign and are holding talks, seminars, and meetings with the guests. Breast cancer (BC) is one of the most common oncological diseases not only in Russia but throughout the world. It is a serious disease in which pathological cells in the breast tissue begin to divide uncontrollably and form a tumor. The earliest form (the so‑called “in situ” cancer) is not life‑threatening. However, tumor cells can spread to the adjacent breast tissue (invasion). As the tumor continues to grow, a mass or lump appears. Invasive cancer can spread to nearby lymph nodes or other organs (metastasize). Metastasis can lead to a fatal outcome.
Various forms of breast tumors (and there are over 20 types) can occur in half of the female population (i.e., in every second woman over 30 years of age). Fortunately, the vast majority are benign and do not threaten health.
Breast cancer prevention should be mandatory for all women. This includes maintaining a healthy lifestyle, eating a proper and balanced diet, preventing stress and conflict situations, giving up bad habits, following a daily routine, undergoing preventive examinations, and undergoing regular medical check‑ups. Take care of yourself and your loved ones! Stay healthy!
