On April 15, the Week of Popularization of Blood Donation started in Russia. Events dedicated to the National Donor Day are traditionally held on April 20 in all Russian regions, they raise the problems of donation in Russia and exchange experiences. The occasion for the celebration was a very humane event — on April 20, 1832, a young St. Petersburg obstetrician Andrei Martinovich Wolf successfully performed the first blood transfusion in history for the first time. The Donor Day itself, in memory of this first blood transfusion, was established on February 20, 2007 at a round table on the problems of donation and blood service, held in the State Duma of the Russian Federation.
The doctors of the sanatorium "Krasivo" join the information campaign, have prepared leaflets and booklets. On this day, we express our gratitude to people who voluntarily and gratuitously donate their blood necessary to save human lives, and raise awareness of the need for regular blood donation to ensure the quality, safety and availability of blood and blood products for patients in need.
This day is dedicated to the donors themselves - people who donate their blood free of charge for the benefit of the health and life of complete strangers. We wish you all good health! Take care of yourself!
