Liver Disease Prevention Week

Liver Disease Prevention Week

From July 22 to 28, 2024, the Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation announced a Week of Prevention of Liver Diseases (in honor of World Hepatitis Day on July 28). The medical staff of the sanatorium "Krasivo" join the information campaign and prepare lectures, talks, booklets, films on the topic of prevention for vacationers. The liver is a unique organ that daily takes over protection from fatty foods and toxic substances, from alcohol and drugs, performing many vital functions. The problem of viral hepatitis continues to be extremely relevant. Hepatitis is an inflammation of the liver, as a result of which liver cells are destroyed. The cause of the disease can be infections, alcohol abuse, fatty foods, poisoning, and an improper lifestyle. If the body does not have time to restore the destroyed liver cells, they are replaced by connective tissue. Then the patient has fibrosis. The severe stage of fibrosis, when a significant part of the liver is replaced by connective tissue, is called cirrhosis. In light of the growing prevalence of obesity, we will pay special attention to the issues of non-alcoholic fatty liver disease. Non—alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) is a chronic disease associated with insulin resistance and characterized by excessive accumulation of fat in the liver. The disease currently affects between 25% and 30% of adult residents. The main measures to prevent the disease are rational nutrition and sufficient physical activity. Take care of yourself!
