World Patient Safety Day in 2024

In 2024, the theme "Improving diagnosis for patient safety" was chosen for World Patient Safety Day, because correct and timely diagnosis is extremely important to protect patients and improve the outcome of the disease. Diagnostic reliability can be significantly improved by eliminating systemic problems and cognitive factors that can lead to diagnostic errors. In resolution WHA72.6 "Global Actions for patient safety" and the Global Action Plan for Patient Safety 2021-2030. - the need to ensure the safety of diagnostic processes is emphasized. Since many patients are likely to encounter at least one diagnostic error during their lifetime, a lot of work needs to be done to improve the safety of diagnostic processes. The following slogan was chosen for the information campaign: "Do not make mistakes, remember safety!". The diagnosis determines the essence of the patient's disease and is a condition for receiving the necessary help and treatment. World Patient Safety Day serves as an occasion to raise public awareness and strengthen cooperation between patients, healthcare professionals, policy makers and health leaders in order to improve the safety of health care recipients.
